Welcome to Ilkurlka!
Visitor centre and roadhouse

The Anne Beadell Highway runs from Laverton to Coober Pedy (with permits required for certain sections - see under our Travel - Permits section for details). This is an historic and in places rugged track which crosses the Great Victoria Desert.
Ilkurlka was established in 2004 by the Spinifex People in Tjuntjuntjara to serve travellers along the Anne Beadell Highway. Ilkurlka is located approximately 770km west of Coober Pedy and 550km east of Laverton.

Ilkurlka has diesel supplies (opal/petrol must be pre-ordered as very limited stocks of that fuel are held). There is also a basic campground and we have a display of artwork by artists from the famed Spinifex Arts Project based in Tjuntjuntjara, our home community.

Ilkurlka has an airstrip with lighting - there is a weekly passenger service to and from Kalgoorlie and we can accept charter flights. The Royal Flying Doctor can also operate here for emergencies.
